OHD gin
We’ve been wanting to create a gin that’s more versatile and with OHD Gin we created a more citrus driven gin that combines tradition with a modern approach.
An essential botanical in gin is angelica, or Norwegian angelica. This botanical is also known as the distiller's salt, since it enhances the flavors from the other botanicals and binds everything together.
Back in the 1800’s the main supplier of angelica to the British gin producers was Norway, so it’s indeed our gift to the gin distilling world. It’s also the only documented botanical that originated in the Nordic countries and spread to the rest of Europe. If you look at our logo, you will see an illustration of the angelica plant – a symbol of Norwegian botanicals.
In addition to angelica, we’ve macerated an abundant amount of juniper berries, citrus peel, dried roots and spices in Norwegian potato spirit and distilled this in our modern copper still at Bryn.
The result is a true London Dry Gin produced in Oslo.
