This years juleakevitt is in the shelves now

Around christmas time it’s importan for us Norwegians to enjoy akevitt specially made for christmas. This is clled juleakevit.

 
 

The akevitt is matured on bourbon barels before finishing them in redwine casks from Saint-Emillion in Bordeux. When the holiday season is approaching, we’ll select our favourite casks and start creating the akevitt.

This year we also added some akevitt matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and a hint of tequila cask matured akevitt. Together the akevitt has spent more than 30 months on oak. We macerate itogether with some plums and cherries for added fruitynes and a touch of sweetness.

This has created a fruity and rounded akevitt with a modern approach to classic Christmas flavours. It goes well with the food we eat during the celebrations.
