Named the best aquavit in the world

These are busy days at Oslo Håndverksdestilleri. This year's Christmas aquavit will be bottled from the red wine casks in bottles when the phone arrives from London. Both Akevitten and our Christmas Akevitten have received gold, while Akevitt Blank - as the first aquavit in history has been awarded a Master award. Can the representative of The Spirits Masters, which is the world's largest competition for liquor, announce. The jubilation goes through the small distillery.

The Spirits Masters, which earlier this year named the distillery's Vidda the world's best gin, is a series of blind tastings held throughout the year with independent liquor experts on the jury. The competition is hosted by The Spirit Business, the magazine that is seen as the international industry bible. It is only when all judges have given top scores that the Master award is given, something that until now has never happened to an aquavit. In a statement, The Spirit Masters said the following about the victory:

In recent years, we have seen a growing interest in aquavit as a category. The caraway-flavored liquor is constantly increasing in popularity and much of this is due to its similarities with gin. This is easy to understand when the first Master medal winner was discovered: Akevitt Blank. The judges describe the smell as aromatic and intense with caraway, anise and mint tones. The journey continues in the mouth with intense flavors in many layers.
